June
Friars, Smugglers & Historic Faversham – Tuesday 4th June 2024 Our tour today takes us to some of the lesser known treasures of Kent. Our coffee stop is at the 13th century Aylesford Priory, where we have time to visit the on-site pottery and take a peaceful stroll in the grounds. Continuing on, we reach the charming, historic town of Faversham, nestling between the rural delights of the Kent Downs and the beauty of its coastal wetlands, with its wealth of listed buildings, including the finest medieval street in England. Our final visit is to the unspoilt, former smugglers haunt of Deal, considered by many to be Kent’s prettiest seaside town. A traditional resort with an attractive promenade, two castles, a pier, beautiful pebble beaches, Deal still has a small fishing fleet working from its shores (refreshments not included) Adult/S.C: £40
Horse-Drawn Barge Cruise with Cream Tea – Friday 14th June 2024 Today’s tour takes us to Kintbury, where we board a lovely horse-drawn barge, for a two hour cruise along the pretty Kennett & Avon Canal. As we glide through the peaceful Berkshire countryside, we enjoy a delicious cream tea while listening to the water gently lapping against the hull. Prior to our cruise, we will make a lunch stop in the idyllic market town of Newbury, in the heart of rural Berkshire (includes cream tea & fare for cruise) Adult/S.C: £73
Heritage Coast Explorer (includes lunch) – Tuesday 25th June 2024 Our scenic tour of the Suffolk Heritage Coast takes us via Ardleigh, Lawford, Brantham & Wherstead to Woodbridge, where we enjoy a lovely 2-course lunch at the popular Notcutts Garden Centre. Continuing on, we cross the River Deben, and pass through Orford, with its well preserved 12th century castle keep, and the village of Snape, to reach the traditional seaside resort of Aldeburgh, with its pastel-coloured 19th century holiday villas lining the promenade, delightful high street, and pebble beach, with fisherman selling their daily catch. After a pleasant afternoon, we return home along the sea shore, past the controversial Scallop sculpture, and through the fantasy mock Tudor village of Thorpeness, famous for its House in the Clouds, windmill and Peter Pan themed meare (includes 2-course lunch) Adult/S.C: £59 (Not B & S)
July
Romantic Hever Castle in Bloom (with lunch) – Monday 1st July 2024 Today’s excursion take us in to Kent, where we visit the romantic, double-moated 14th century Hever Castle, once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn. Hever in Bloom showcases the castle’s magnificent award-winning gardens at the height of their summer beauty, with one of the finest displays of roses and summer blooms in the ‘Garden of England’. Many of the Castle rooms will be filled with floral arrangements created by the resident florist, and guided tours of the garden will be available with Head Gardener Neil Miller and his team. We also enjoy an included 2-course meal. Includes admission to the Castle & Gardens, Interactive Castle Audio Guide, Garden Tour and 2-course lunch Adult/S.C: £77
